I'll wear a pretty dress. If I decide I don't like my date, I'll run away. When I'm 25, I will get my boyfriend to marry me by saying, "Will you please marry me because I'll take you anywhere." I'll get marred in a church to someone who is rich, pretty, and has brown eyes. I'll make love last by never getting into a fight. If I had a Valentine, I would give them chocolate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why it is Important to Treat Others Kindly By: Haley It is important to treat others kindly, because if you treat people mean they will treat you mean back. The more you treat someone mean, the more mean things they will do to you. If you treat someone mean they might not remember what you said but they will remember how you made them feel. At my house we have a golden rule and it is, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." You are a brother and sister to everybody. It does not matter what people eat, wear, look like, or smell like. You should treat everybody the same. In the Bible it says, "Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong things." There is more to this verse, but that is the part that is important to the class. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Worst Week By: Haley Do you believe in magic? Well, my sister, Hannah, turned me into a snow girl because I was being bratty. A few days ago, Hannah and I were playing dolls in her room and we were just about to stop when my mom called me down to get ready for church choir. Since I could not help Hannah pick up, Hannah got out her magic wand and demanded, "Turn Haley into a snow girl!" and "Poof" I was a snow girl! That is one of the reasons I was turned into a snow girl, but that wasn't the only reason. My mom made hot chocolate and I spilled it on Hannah's new dress. My mom and dad were very mad at me because the dress was Hannah's Christmas dress. "Oh no!" I also lost Hannah's favorite bear. She was very mad because she sleeps with that bear. Everyone who saw me as a snow girl was shocked. Everybody asked, "Who did that?" When I told them that Hannah did it they were just a little mad. I was shocked to see myself with an orange nose, black top hat with bright pink trim, and a bright pink scarf! Well, I didn't have a very good life as a snow girl. I couldn't sleep in my bed, I couldn't sleep with my bunnies, and also I couldn't eat with my family or go to school! I really wanted to go to school. When I thought about it, I started to cry ice cube tears. I was sad. As the day went on, I forgot about the sadness. Then Hannah came home on the bus and went into the house, which made me feel sad again, so I started to cry even larger ice cube tears. I was so sad I couldn't stand it. I didn't know what to do. All I could think about was that I wanted to be a kid again. I missed being a kid. I couldn't eat pizza because my mouth would melt. I missed the sweet chocolaty taste of hot chocolate. I decided to tell Hannah that it was a good idea to turn me back into a kid. On my way to find her, I almost fell on the slippery ice. I told her that she should turn me back because I would melt when summer arrived. I also told her I'd make her bed and give her 25 cents every day for a week or more! I promised I wouldn't spill hot chocolate, lose her bear, or mess up her room. Hannah was shocked when she heard my reasons why she should turn me back into a kid again. Suddenly, I heard, "Poof!" and before I knew it, Hannah was using her magic wand to turn me back. Everyone was glad to see me back as a kid again. I learned I shouldn't be bratty. Now, do you believe in magic? I do! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If You Give an Alligator an Apple By: Haley If you give an alligator an apple, she'll probably ask for some chips. When you give her some chips, she'll want a sandwich. After eating the sandwich, she'll want some powdered donuts. Eating the powdered donuts will make her want to wash her face. While she's washing her face, she might accidentally spill water on herself. Spilling the water will make her want to go swimming. While she is swimming she will think about the Olympics. Thinking about the Olympics will make her want to become an Olympic star. While practicing to become an Olympic star, she will get hungry and want some chips to eat. If she eats chips, chances are&ldots; she will probably want an apple. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you know what rabbits do when no one is looking? People think that rabbits just eat carrots all day. But when no one is looking&ldots; They read books. Rabbits sing songs. Rabbits like to add and subtract. They do dances. Rabbits go to the dentist. They go to school. Sometimes they go to birthday parties. They go shopping at the store. They like to take swimming lessons. They play the violin. But when anyone one is looking&ldots; rabbits just eat carrots. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alliteration At four o'clock, at a funny farm, five funny firemen found forty-four of their favorite flowers, Forget-Me-Nots, for their fancy families. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sentence Expansion Just as the clock struck three, the frightened noisy monster ran speedily into the store. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Mrs. Ritenour, I have had a wonderful time in third grade. I love the science center, it's so cool. I also love our class library. It has so many cool books. I can't wait to read all of them. Learning about sound in science is also a lot of fun. My favorite part was using the tuning fork. It was very fun to have Iggy the Iguana. I also think that the fish tank is cool. Do you know how many fish there are and how many kinds of fish there are? Thank you for giving us pencils at the beginning of each month. Also thank you for giving us each an eraser too. In social studies I liked when we had partners and we wrote on the maps and globe, that was so much fun. You're a great teacher. Thanks for a great year so far. Love, Haley ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All About D.E.A.R. Time Let me tell you what D.E.A.R. means. The D means drop. The E means everything. The A means and. The R means read. So all together it means Drop Everything and Read. When we have D.E.A.R. time, we can get books from our class library. Some of my favorite book series in our class library are Flat Stanley, The Boxcar Children, and The Bailey School Kids. A science book I would like to read is Grossology and You. A social studies book I would like to read is Where Was Patrick Henry on the 29th of May. While we are reading we can use our special chairs and pillows. We have two pillows decorated with scissors, crayons and pencils. Two other pencils have apples on them. We have one pillow that is shapede like a cat and two pillows that are big and blue. There are four chairs. One of them is tall and blue. One of them is short and looks like Sponge Bob. The last two are blue and soft. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading I think I am a great reader. I am a fan of the Boxcar Children. Right now I am reading The Boxcar Children and the Mystery on the Train. It is very good. I also like the Flat Stanley books and the Geronimo Stilton books. Right now I am reading The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid and a lot of other stories. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Important By: Haley The important thing about me is that I am me. I am a good reader, and I have a nice loving family, and I'm good at biking. But the most important thing about me is that I am me! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
