When I read it is very relaxing and comfortable. Books make me feel many different ways. Sometimes they make me feel scared, sad, or happy. They make me giggle, cry, and laugh. They even make me hungry. If I read a book that had some fruit in it, I would be starving for some of that fruit! Some books make you want to be the character you are reading about. I learn new information and am entertained when I read. Books always help me with my studies. Books can be a lot of fun. For example: If you tell a joke, you can turn books into your kind of personality. You can also make your own books with illustrations. Even though books are fun, they can get you into trouble! Sometimes books can make you lie to your parents. For example: You tell your parents that you will stop reading in a minute and clean your room, but then you end up reading for almost an hour! Then you get in trouble by your parents. They can also make you keep on reading them and you never finish your homework. Some books make you read for your whole life time! I've even bumped into a wall because I was so interested in my book and I wasn't looking where I was going. Books can be fun and used in many ways. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Love For my first date, I'd like to go to a restaurant. I'd wear a nice dress. If I had a bad date, I'd tell him I had to leave. When I am 30, I'd like to get married in Florida to a man with tannish-brownish hair, brown eyes. He has to be smart and want to be a doctor. I would make love last forever by not breaking up. If I had a Valentine, I would give them a watch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Respect By: Morgan You should respect others. You shouldn't be mean to them or hurt their feelings. You shouldn't bully anyone because you don't have the right to hurt or pick on anyone. You should respect everyone's dignity. If someone's zipper on their pants is undone, you should whisper it in their ear. If you shout it out people will start to laugh and that person will cry. That would not be respecting their dignity. When you are bullying someone you hurt their feelings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Weird Snow Girl By: Morgan My spectacular best friend, Tierra, and I were playing Uno. I won because I'm the Uno Champion. She got really disgusted and went back to her house. She shut the door in my face. SLAM! The next day, she got over it. She was making a wonderful paper doll with sparkles and glitter all over it. She let me see it. When she did, I noticed that I had a staple stuck to me but I noticed too late. It had already happened. I scraped against the paper doll and it ripped on the staple. A couple days later, Tierra came over to show me her glass duck that she won in a ballet concert. She told me a lot about it and she let me hold it. I was trying to be careful but I dropped it. When I did, Tierra told me she didn't want to come over again. The next day at school, she was making a raccoon with sparkles in art class. I really wanted to hold it so she let me of course. It was really awesome but I had to be cautious because it was really squishy. Before I knew it, I had squished it. Tierra screamed so loud that the principal heard her. She got in trouble for screaming. While we were on the playground, Tierra told me to come over after school for apple juice. After school I went to her house. She gave me some juice, but I didn't know she'd put something strange in it. I took a sip and before I could say anything I was turned into a snow girl. Then Tierra shoved me out of her house. My friends didn't notice me when they walked by. None of my problems got noticed either. I was very lonely and sad. I was agonizing. Some of the days were getting warm and I missed my mom. I just stood there in the hot sun. When I was thinking, I thought, "I have to make Tierra turn me back." I waddled to her house and knocked on the door. I said, "If you turn me back, i will give you my glass duck, jewelry, and my favorite doll. Suddenly, Tierra pulled out a fog of magic and poured it into a glass. It was purple. Then she put sprinkles in it and told me to drink it, so I did. When I drank the potion, I was turned back into a human being. My mom was excited to see me and my friends were too. Everyone asked where I'd been. I told them it was a LONG story! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If You Give a Giraffe a Grilled Cheese Sandwich By: Morgan If you give a giraffe a grilled cheese sandwich, he'll probably want some milk. When you give him some milk, he'll probably want a cookie. When you give him a cookie, he'll want to bake more. When he's baking, the kitchen will get so hot that he'll want to play outside. When he goes outside, he'll want to have a picnic. Setting up the picnic blanket will make him want to make a tent. When you give him some cloth to make a tent, he'll want you to help. While he's making a tent, he'll start thinking about houses and want to make a house instead. Then he'll ask you for some wood, nails, a hammer, and some wallpaper. So, he'll probably need some glue for the wallpaper.  The glue will make him think of milk and he will want a glass. When you give him some milk, chances are&ldots;. He'll want a grilled cheese sandwich to go with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Class Corn Snake My experience with our class snake was that it was scary for some people and some people were brave enough to hold it. At first I was really scared of it but then I realized that the snake was cute and it did not bite. Also it did not have any teeth. It's not poisonous!!!! All it does is coil around you. Now that I've held a snake I've lost my fear of snakes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alliteration Jack Frost joyfully jumped in the jungles of Japan and ate juicy jellyfish while jubilantly juggling jack knives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sentence Expansion At twelve midnight, the depressed popular monster ran unhappily down to the creepy pond. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Mom and Dad,   Today I went to the book fair and I was wondering if you would buy me three books. The names of these books are The Wizard of Oz, Snuffle Bunny, and Fear Factor. The books will help me improve my reading skills. At school these books will be good for questions on my reading log. These would also be good to read at home.   Your daughter,   Morgan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Holidays The holidays that my family and I celebrate are Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. Christmas is about Jesus and that he died on a cross for our sins. Also, it's his birthday. Some of the foods we eat are salads, cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. Some of the things we drink are tea, hot cocoa, and water. Easter is another holiday my family and I celebrate. It is a church celebration. Sometimes we celebrate at church and do plays at church. The foods we eat are hot dogs, fruit, and eggs. Also, we go on Easter egg hunts and play games. We get prizes inside the eggs. Thanksgiving is a holiday celebration too. We also call it Turkey Day. We make turkey, greens, mashed potatoes, collard greens, juice, fruit, and fruit punch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thankful I am thankful for learning many new things at school. I am thankful for my mom because she is spectacular and glamorous. She is helpful to me. I am thankful for my gorgeous home and my health. I am thankful for my beautiful room and my swimming lessons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading My favorite place to read is on my bed because my bed is glamorous and glowing. It's shiny. It's my favorite place to read because it's my bed and it's private. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Computer Lab  In computer lab we have been working on Halloween stories that we made up. We wrote the Halloween stories in PowerPoint. We also use Word. We are learning how to change our font and add clip art. When you want clip art, you type in what you want like, "wedding." When you search, the computer finds pictures about weddings. You can look for many different pictures like, pumpkins, flowers, Easter, birthdays, Christmas, and April Fool's. When you change your font, you can make it larger. Seventy-two is the largest size you can use and one is the smallest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What I Want to Do There are things that I'd like to do but never had a chance to do. I would like to go to my friend's house when I want to and spend the night. I never got a chance to go ice skating but it will only be when I keep myself clean. I never get to go swimming except for on Mondays when I go to swimming lessons. I wish I knew how to do gymnastics because sometimes I really want to be flexible. I wish I was in ballet because it looks like a nice thing to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home Life My life at home is fun because I get to go to a park because I live by one. My rules at the dinner table are: Don't chew with your mouthful and say excuse me when you burp. My chores are taking out the garbage and practicing the violin. The thing that I'd like to change is that I'd like to live in a bigger house with other fascinating things. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Teacher If my teacher moved in with me I would be really happy because I would get to be smart if she gave me more homework. If she got a chance to go outside I would go over to my friend's house. I would tell her to come over and see my friend's house. Her name is Rachel. Then we would carry the pool in a huge wagon and pull it to my house. Then we would get in the pool. After we were done swimming we would play detective and do detective business. We would do mysteries and watch detective movies. Sometimes we would do homework. If she was bored we would make our own stories. She would see me swim.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Mrs. Ritenour, What I think about 3rd grade is that you can do stuff that you never did before and you can learn new things every day. You can do math like multiplication and division. You can learn social studies and algebra. You also learn reading strategies. I learned to tell where I found an answer and how to predict about what's going to happen in a story.   Morgan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Atlases, Globes, and Maps We are learning about maps in social studies. The bumpy map is really cool because it shows mountains and it almost looks like a 3-D picture. The Junior Geographer Atlas has maps and places that you could go. You might even live in one of the places. It shows water like oceans, lakes, rivers, rivermouths, bays, reservoirs, and canals. You can see plains, hills, mountains, plateaus, canyons, islands and peninsulas. The Atlas shows what everything means. You can find state facts like your state bird, flower, and tree. You can find population, largest cities, largest lakes, extreme weather, extreme locations, and longest rivers. We also have political and physical maps. We learned about thematic maps too. The physical map shows tundra, forests, grass, deserts, and oceans. The political map shows countries and states. It shows the whole world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading Strategies When we are reading to find answers, we use reading strategies. Here are our strategies. 1. Read the title and predict 2. Number the paragraphs 3. Read the questions 4. Read the story 5. Answer the questions and show where you found the answers. Underline your answers in the story. 6. Look back and read again 7. Check your work ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Talents I am good at handwriting because my mom taught me how to write good. Another thing I'm good at is swimming because I've been swimming since I was a baby and when I was in kindergarten. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading I like to read the Magic Tree House series because they solve mysteries. They have to solve mysteries from this lady named Morgan. The kids in the books are named Jack and Annie. They solve mysteries about dinosaurs, dingos, dolphins, shards, wars, gorillas, and tigers. They do stuff about ancient people from a long long time ago. I also like Junie B. Jones books too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Anacondas Do When No One is Looking Do you know what anacondas do when no one is looking? People think that anacondas just slither around all day. But when no one is looking... They go shopping. They go scavenger hunting. Anacondas go bird watching. They go butterfly hunting. Sometimes they drink milk shakes.Anacondas like to go scuba diving. They like to read books. Anacondas pick flowers. They take bubble baths. They go to parties. But when anyone one is looking... anacondas just slither around. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Important By: Morgan The important thing about me is that I am me. I love to swim, and cook, and draw and write, and I love to spend time with my whole family. But the most important thing about me is that I am me! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   The First Day of School By: Morgan When I was getting out of the car and went in my line I was a little nervous. Then when I saw some of my friends I wasn't that nervous anymore. Then I met my teacher and she was nice.
