Luck is when you imagine you want something amazing but you think you won't get it. If you get it, you are lucky. Being unlucky is when you don't want something to happen and it happens. That is being unlucky. Every one has good luck and bad luck in their lives. Good luck is like finding a lucky penny. You never know when you could be lucky. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Love If you want someone to fall in love with you, you should put on lots of make-up. If I go on a date, I will go to a restaurant, wear a dress, and spend $5.00. If my date makes me mad, I will slap him and go home. When I'm 21, I will marry a sporty guy who loves to rollerblade. They would not like it. They will feel nice if you are nice to them. Being mean is not really nice. It also hurts others' feelings. If you are nice to others they will like you. They will be nice to you if you are nice to them. You have to treat people like you want to be treated. It is not right to be a bully because bullies hurt other people with their words. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mouneesha's Magic Shreya J. Do you believe in magic? Well last Saturday I broke my best friend, Mouneesha's, CD player. I went to her house because I was taking ink to her. I put it on her desk and when I sat on her chair by her desk my elbow knocked it down and then I got water and put it on her papers. So I gave up and hid her papers under her chair. When she came back from the bathroom and she searched for the papers. She looked under the chair and yelled, "I have to do my homework all over!" I broke her glasses then I spilled mud on her hair plus I broke her favorite lipstick. She took three snowballs out and put them on my picture. She put a carrot on my nose and she put my picture outside. When I went outside I automatically turned into a snow girl. I was in her back yard when this happened. People looked surprised. The first few minutes it was fun then I screamed for ten minutes. I got really scared because if I went inside, I would melt. The problem was that I did not want to melt. I wanted to be a kid again. So my mom wouldn't get worried. I missed lying with my mom and eating. "I wanted her to turn me back into a kid. I told her, "If you don't I'll melt in the summer and you wont' see me again. I will get you cassettes, Harry Potter Four, and two makeup sets if you turn me back into a kid again." Mouneesha forgave me. She took the snowballs off of my picture and I turned into a kid again. I learned that if you do something to someone else's things tell them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If You Give a Kangaroo Some Ketchup By: Shreya If you give a kangaroo some ketchup, he'll probably ask for a hamburger. When you give him a hamburger, he'll want some pop. After he's done with his pop, he'll want a napkin. Then he will want to look at himself in a mirror to make sure there are no spots on his face. When he looks in the mirror, he'll notice that his hair needs a trim, so he'll ask for scissors. After he trims his hair, he'll ask for a broom to clean up the mess. After that, he'll want to take a nap. When he wakes up, he will want to change clothes. Then he will want to go to a park. He'll want you to push him higher and higher on the swings. After that, he will be hungry and he will want a hamburger. Chances are, if you give him a hamburger&ldots; he'll want some ketchup to go with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alliteration The dull detective opened his decorated diary with his dusty dog in dirty Detroit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sentence Expansion At midnight, the evil huge monster madly down the big hill. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Corn Snake Today I held a snake. Its name is Corn and he is pretty long. It is a Corn Snake. He is a reptile and cold blooded. He slithers around his cage. His skin is smooth. It is not poisonous. It went down Amelia's back. Grace and Amelia know about snakes. I held it three times. I was nervous when it came out of its cage. It was really fun having him today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Friend Tanv One day Tanv and I were ice skating with our socks when I lifted my leg. She was right behind me and I tripped her. She got scared when she fell because she had a funny face on her. Then she banged against the wall. Then my mom came and she ran home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Snow I like snow because I can make snowmen. The bad thing about snow is that it is too cold. It started snowing on November 16, 2005. I think the last snow will be on March 21, 2005. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thankful I am thankful for my nice mom because she does lots of things for me. I am thankful for learning math at school. I am thankful for my fun family because they helped me do a two wheeler. I am thankful for my nice uncle because he does funny tricks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Holidays My favorite three holidays that I celebrate are Diwali, Holy, and Pogle. On Diwali we put candles al over the house. We eat sweets, drink juice, and do fireworks. On Holy we wear white clothing and we have colors but they are the color of powder. We throw the color powders on people and sometimes we have kids and music. We eat rice, sweets, and bocoda. On Pogle we get new dresses. We eat pogle. On Diwali we wear nice dresses and on Pogle. Diwali is on November 4th. Holy is in June or July and Pogle is in March. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D.O.L.  D.O.L. means Daily Oral Language. Daily Oral Language is a book of sentences and paragraphs that have to be corrected. If we find a spelling mistake it has to be circled and "SP" is written on top. If we find something that has to be deleted we make a loop over the word. To make something start with a capital we put three lines under the letter. If we need to add punctuation at the end of a sentence we draw a circle and put the punctuation inside. If a word starts with a capital and it needs to start with a lowercase letter, we put a line through the letter.  When we are done correcting our sentences, Mrs. Ritenour turns on the TV and puts the sentences are on the TV screen using PowerPoint. We check our corrections together. Mrs. Ritenour turns the pointer into a pen and marks on the TV screen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading I like to read in my room on my fuzzy bed because it is really fuzzy. I like reading in my car because I can relax. Reading is a fun thing to do when you are bored. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Halloween On Halloween, I went trick-or-treating. There are three streets in Heritage Village so I got lots of candy. I was Cinderella. I went with Thanvi, Pooja, Sanjana, and Divya. They are my friends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Wish I wish I could go swimming on the deep side. I wish I could have a pet dog. I wish I could do tricks on my trampoline because it would be fun. I know how to roller blade now because I learned on my sixth birthday. Now I know how to do tricks. I wish I was allowed to drive. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Home My life at home is really fun because I have lots of fun things. One thing I wish I could change is that I want to jump on my bed. My life is also good because I have a trampoline and a big TV. I have a big house. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If My Teacher Moved in with Me If my teacher moved in with me she would take me to parks and she would go to India with me to see all of the beautiful dresses and shoes. We would plan together, dance together, and do homework together. I would read books to her and get better in reading. Mrs. Ritenour and I would catch grasshoppers. She would be lots of fun. We could tell scary stories. She would be a really fun teacher to be with. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Dream Vacation If I could go on a vacation I would go to Hollywood. I would get to see lots of actors and actresses. I would be able to be in a movie. I would go in a limousine also. Then I would be a famous girl and I would make new friends. People would give me nice things. I would be really rich. I could buy twenty pairs of clothes and twenty pairs of shoes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Third Grade Third grade is fun because we get to do lots of fun and exciting things like field trips, library, art, and music. My 3rd grade teacher is Mrs. Ritenour. She is nice. She loves to teach us and she corrects us when we do anything wrong. In third grade we get to do more math problems involving multiplication and division. At library time we can pick more books and we learn how to type faster in computer lab. On Tuesdays, when we go to computer, we do Type to Learn. In music we learn music in different languages. In art class we do more advanced art. We have more homework and reading to do in 3rd grade than in 2nd grade. I'm proud to be a third grader. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Art Class In art class we drew a picture of our family swimming underwater. I drew jellyfish, fish, crabs, rocks, weeds, rubies, a cave, and sand. Then I colored it. It looked real pretty. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Music Class We learned songs from all over the world. I taught a song for the class but they did not get it. So we did the Irish song instead. Megan and Grace did the dance for the Irish song. Then Dr. Schulman taught us some other songs. Sometimes we watch movies like "Peter and the Wolf." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Talent I am good at rollerblading. I started on my birthday. Now my neighbor and I go downhill with our rollerblades and do tricks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Writing I like writing when I am on the computer. I write when I have nothing to do. I like writing about my family and friends. I write poems too. I like homework because we write. I write really neatly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Tigers Do When No One is Looking Do you know what tigers do when no one is looking? People think that tigers just lie down all day. But when no one is looking.. They wear a skirt and a shirt. They swing. Sometimes they act like babies. Tigers go roller-blading. They like to wear nail polish. They play with Barbie dolls. Tigers go to parks. They like to go to the beach. They take baths. They make tree houses. But when anyone one is looking... tigers just lie down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Important By: Shreya The important thing about me is that I am me. I am a little girl, and I like to play outside, and I like to jump on my trampoline. But the most important thing about me is that I am me! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The First Day of School By: Shreya I was excited when I came to school. We have a school pet and it is a fish. Our school is by my house. I have one friend, Morgan. My teacher is nice. We have our own web site.
