I think luck can be bad luck or great luck. You will never know if it's bad luck or great luck. For example, bad luck is when something bad happens to you. Great luck is when you get excited and you are jumping up and down, like when you pass your timed test. I think people get more good luck than bad luck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reading By: Shreya P. I love reading books. Mostly, I read every night and every day at school. I like to read character books like Arthur, story books like Cam Jansen, biographies like Neil Armstrong, and non-fiction books like India. When I read different books I feel happy, excited, sad, scared, angry, curious, and wonderful. Once I start reading a book I never feel like stopping. I always think about what will come next. Sometimes, before I finish the book, I try to pick the ending. I don't allow my mom to go to bed until I finish the books we read. Sometimes I help my sister read her books. Reading is very important. It brings success in school and work. It can also be fun. Reading can help you get more knowledge about science, math, history, sports, and art. Reading helps to improve your language and communication. Some people don't like to read books, but I do. I am really crazy about reading. I read all the time, even in class, at playtime, at dinnertime, and when everyone is asleep. I use flashlights under a blanket. When I'm reading, if someone calls me, I won't hear them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Love Love is a friendship and people fall in love because they are best friends. You can tell when two people are in love because they go shopping. If I got asked on a date, I'd want to go out to dinner. I would wear a dress and if I got mad at my date, I'd say, "I don't love you." When I am 29, I'd like to get married in India to a nice, rich, doctor. If I had a Valentine, I would give them a teddy bear that has a heart on it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Treat Others Kindly By: Shreya P. It is really important to treat others kindly because it makes them feel happy, good, and nice. Always remember to treat people the way you want to be treated. If someone new comes in you class you should talk kindly to them, help them, and play with them. They will get comfortable in their new class and they will be able to study nicely. If you don't treat them kindly they will feel sad and unhappy to come to school. You should share your things with everyone so they will share with you. At recess if someone is alone you should play with them so that person feels happy and not alone. Then they will have a good day. If you are working in a group, you should listen to others. Otherwise they might get mad and feel bad. If you sit together for lunch don't say, "Your food is yucky and it smells bad." Otherwise that person might feel bad and stop eating. You should treat people like they are your brother or sister in your family so God will like you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Mean Sister By: Shreya P. Now I am really nice with my sister but before I was really mean to her. Once my sister and I were studying. She asked, "Can you help me?" I yelled, "Do it by yourself!" Another time she took my purse and I hit her. Then we went outside in the snow and she threw a snowball at me. I shouted, "Don't throw a snowball at me!" She became mad at me and ran into the house. She went in her room and told her doll, "Can you make my sister a snowman?" The next day, when I woke up, I felt so heavy. My hand became steady. I called my mom and said, "I am feeling different." My mom ran to my room and frowned. Mom said, "How did you become a snowman?" I said, "What?" I tried to run myself to see in the mirror. But I was only able to walk. Then I started crying. Everyone in my house came into my room to see. My sister told everyone that she told her doll to make me a snowman. She said she didn't know that her doll was a magic doll. I was a snowman and my life was destroyed. I couldn't walk so I had to hop, I couldn't eat by myself so my mother had to feed me. I had to stay outside all day long or I would melt. When people passed by me they always teased, "Shreya is a snowman." I couldn't go to school. I felt each day was a year. I couldn't sleep on my bed so I missed my bed. I missed watching TV. I couldn't wear my best clothes. I got tired because I had to stand all day long. My life was so bad I wanted to be a kid again. I missed playing with my friends, so I pleaded, "Can you please turn me back into a kid?" My sister said, "No, because if I turn you back to be a kid, you would be mean again to me." Then I told her that if I was a snowman, her friends would be afraid of her and no one would play with her. I told her she could play with me if she turned me back. I told her that if she didn't turn me back before summer, I would melt and she would never see me anymore. I promised I'd be very nice to her, help her with her homework, share my things with her, and that I'd help her with her homework if she'd turn me back. I even told her I'd play games with her. When she heard those things, she was ready to turn me back into a kid. She ran into the house and brought the doll outside. She asked the doll to turn me from a snowman to a kid. The next morning, when I woke up, I felt chilly. I was a kid again! I ran into the warm house. I was so cheerful and everyone was happy and cheering because I was my old self. My mom told me to be nice like I promised my sister. From that day, I learned that we have to be nice to our sisters, brothers, and friends. Otherwise we will get a punishment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If You Give a Whale Some Watermelon By: Shreya P. If you give a whale a watermelon, he'll probably make a mess. When he makes a mess, he will ask you to help clean up. When you help him, it will make him think of his mom. Thinking of his mom will make him want to visit her. He'll want to draw a picture for his mom so he will ask for paper and crayons. Then he will want to frame his picture. So, he will ask you to take him to the store. While he is at the store, he will spend all of the money in his piggy bank. So he will ask you for more money so he can buy a toy. When he gets home, he will want to play with his toy.
