My Smackback Game Against the Yankees By: Annika   My team, the Tigers, walked onto the field in Detroit. The crowd went wild when Karlie Wengorovius #1 walked on the field. They got even more wild when I, #10, walked on the field. I heard the announcer say, "It's a big day ladies and gentleman. The Tigers verse," he paused, "The Yankees!" I ran to my position. I was pitcher. Then the crowd stopped when Alexis Stocks, #8, ran on the field waving and blowing kisses. Not a sound came from the crowd. When everyone was in their places I stared in Chandler Cousins, #19, batter's eyes. I threw the ball. "Strike one!" said the umpire. Then Wham!! The ball went flying over the field into the crowd. "Homerun!" 1-0. Then Madison Smith, #7, was up. I threw the ball. "St- Homerun!" The crowd went wild. 1-1. I was next. My heart pounded when I took the bat from Madison Smith. "Good luck," she whispered before walking onto third base. Alexis Basso, #3, waited in middle field. She threw the ball. "Strike one." "Darnit," I thought. She threw it again. "Strike 2." "Focus," I thought. Again she threw&ldots;. WHAM! It went over the field! I passed first base. Then I passed second, then third. Then, Oh Wow! Third base caught the ball and my heart pounded even harder. Before I knew it, third base threw it. I had no choice. I dove into the home plate just as the umpire caught the ball, "SAFE! 2-1!" I went back to center field. Lauren Nash, #6, was next. "If she gets a homerun, I'm going down," I thought. I threw the ball to her, "Wham!" She ran to first then second, then she was "OUT!" The crowd went wild. If Caitlin Crutcher, #2, got a homerun, we would win! I threw it. Whamboo! It went into the crowd. "HHHOOOMERUN!!!! WE WON, WE WON!" I shouted. News reporters came from everywhere. Now that was a smackback baseball game! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I Were in Charge of the World By: Annika   If I were in charge of the world I'd cancel broccoli, math, Spanish, and also bananas. If I were in charge of the world there'd be movies nights on Saturday, no sickness, and Laura would come on Sundays. If I were in charge of the world you wouldn't have bullies, homework, freezing days, or school. You wouldn't even have poisonous frogs or snakes! If I were in charge of the world a large pop would be considered to be a small pop. All kids would be nice. And a person who sometimes forgets her homework and sometimes talks a lot would still be allowed to be in charge of the world.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Am By: Annika   I am artistic, loving, and tall. I appreciate carrots but not cooked spinach. My Family, God, and good grades are important to me. I think ferrets are cute but frogs are slimy. I wonder if I will think of a theme for my birthday. I care about people and animals. I can draw and play the piano. I want to move to level two in dance class. In the future I will be an author. So I will makes kids smile and learn things.
